Oregano Oil
Concentrated oil from Mediterranean oregano (Origanum vulgare). Active ingredient carvacrol shows antimicrobial and antifungal effects in vitro. Used cyclically in gut protocols.
How it works
Oregano oil contains carvacrol and thymol, phenolic compounds with lab-demonstrated antimicrobial and antioxidant activity against bacteria, fungi and yeasts. That underpins its use for gut and respiratory issues. Robust controlled human trials, however, are limited.
Dosage
Standardised to 60–80 % carvacrol. 50–200 mg/day, always with a meal. Maximum 6 weeks continuous, then 4 weeks pause.
Considerations
Possible interactions with blood thinners and some diabetes drugs. Avoid in pregnancy and lactation. Do not ingest undiluted pure oil.
